You are being Googled
more often than you think.
And what page one says about you — the stale profile, the six-year-old conference PDF — is negotiating on your behalf, badly, every single day.
The referral came through on Tuesday. The prospect liked the call, said they'd “circle back after doing a bit of homework.” You know what that homework is. It is your name, typed into a search bar at 11pm — and the results deciding, before you get a say, whether you read as the authority or an empty result.
Most accomplished professionals fail that search. Not because they lack the record — because the record lives on rented land. A LinkedIn profile the algorithm shows to fewer people every quarter. A Medium post from 2021. A firm bio page that disappeared with your last job title.

The obvious fix — “build a personal site and publish consistently” — is honest advice with a dishonest price tag. A credible article takes about four hours. Search traction takes roughly eight a month. That is thirty-two hours of your month, every month, at whatever your hour actually bills for. Nobody with a practice to run does it. The 38% of bloggers who quit within a year were not lazy; they were busy.
The arithmetic
| One credible, search-optimized post | ≈ 4 hours |
| Cadence Google actually rewards | 8 posts / month |
| Your month, gone | 32 hours |
| The same job, done by neweb.ai | 0 of your hours |
This is the part of the column where the economics turn. An autonomous engine now does the whole job: it interviews you once — a short conversation about who you are and who hires you — then builds the site, puts it on your own domain with SSL, and keeps publishing researched, search-optimized articles in your field on schedule. Schema markup, internal links, Search Console, rank tracking: handled. Your involvement ends where it began, with the conversation.
A caveat, in the interest of honest reporting: the engine writes about your field, not as you. It will not ghost your hot takes or send your newsletter. What it does is humbler and more valuable — it keeps your name attached to a living, ranking, owned body of work, so that LinkedIn becomes the place that links to you, rather than the only place you exist.
The professionals who win the next decade of search will not be the ones who wrote most. They will be the ones who showed up — at 11pm, on page one, looking like the obvious choice. The search is happening tonight either way. The only question is who wrote the result.
